Latest Site News & Information

Today I finally updated the site with a newly redesigned layout for the hompages and content areas. Although not a drastic change from the old design, the new layout improves useability, readability and navigation throughout. Other improvements and fixes:

• News and Blog RSS/XML feeds have been fixed
• fixed layout issues with the homepage feature stories
• fixed and improved navigation in a several areas
• lots of cleanup to html and css
• many backend improvements

As always, If you come across any broken links or pages on the site, please email support@carracing.com so that we can correct them as soon as possible.

I have added a new Blogs feature to CarRacing.com. Each member now has their own personal blog which allows them to create public and private categories and control the permissions of comments.

I have changed the site website URI layout in order to be better organized and give me more expandability as I add more site groups in the future. I have made the site backwards-compatible with the old style layout so that bookmarks will still work. There have also been updates fixing some html errors and also many backend improvements. If you come across any broken links or pages on the site, please email support@carracing.com so that we can correct them as soon as possible.

Today I released a completely new Profile Editor which also includes many more information fields for members profile information. The new Profile Editor is just a part of the many changes I will be making to the account manager in the upcoming months. Todays updates also included some major cleaning up of the backend code to provide support for new features I am working on. Some other Features that were added in this update:

• Remember me on Login:
  If you select the 'Remember me' checkbox when you login, your login email address and some other settings will be pre-filled in next time you visit the site.
• Local Time Zones:
  Members can now set the Time Zone where they live in the account settings. Setting your time zone will display all dates and times on CarRacing.com to correspond to where your live and relative to your time.
• Startup Group:
  Members can select the site group which they want to display when they first open up CarRacing.com in a web browser.
• HTML Cleanups:
  I cleaned up many small HTML bugs and rearranged a few menu's to make them better organized.
• DELETES:
  I removed all the personal fields in the account settings since I had no need for them. Some of the fields can still be set in the profile editor.

I have improved the handling of using html when posting on CarRacing.com and I have added a new tag to post youtube videos ([youtube]VIDEO_ID[/youtube] & [youtube_small]VIDEO_ID[/youtube_small]). Additionally, I have dropped all support for using BBCode and we are now using standard HTML tags for HTML formatting. BBCode style tags will now only be used in specialized instances to provide secure data posting. For more information on using HTML in your posts Click Here.

We are also working on a completely redesigned members area which will make managing your profile and account settings much easier. The new members area will also add many new details which will allow members to add more information about themselves and their interests. I hope to have the new members area completed within the next few weeks so stay tuned..

We have added several new categories to the classifieds section. they are: Towing Vehicles, Towing Accessories, PIT Vechicles, ATV's & Accessories and Recreational Vehicles. Any member with a classifieds listing can edit their listing and select a new category if necessary.

We have added new groups on CarRacing.com for the ASA Late Model Series and the UARA Stars Series. As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions so we can improve CarRacing.com.

We have added a field for a 'Security Question and Answer' to the signup form and in the account settings. Members will be required to provide their answer to their security question when contacting support.

- We have identified and corrected a problem signing up for users of Internet Explorer which sometimes caused the signup process to fail without an error being displayed.

- We have also noticed that some users signing up using Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and AOL email accounts are seeing the new account validation email delivered to their SPAM or Junkmail folder. This is due to those mail systems strict use of filtering, not because we are spamming people. We are in contact with these companies (and more) to fulfill their requirements for sending email to thier systems normaly. In the mean time, we have added a notice to the signup form notifying users about this. If you are having any troubles receiving email from CarRacing.com, please check your spam or junkmail folders.
