ASCS Gulf South Updates...
Tulsa, OK Wed, Jul 16 @ 12:50 pm EDT

Chris Sweeney of Highlands, TX, not only leads the current American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region point standings, he is also atop the annual Tango Transport Inc. Hard Charger standings with 46 points.

Drivers receive one point for each car passed in each "A" Feature event. Ranked second with 42 points is rookie contender Michael McNeil of Alvin, TX. Rounding out the top five are Greg Rilat and Terry Monroe, both with 35 points, and Brandon Berryman with 31 points. A total of $1,500 awaits the top three in the final tally with $750 earmarked for the winner.

Saldana Racing Products highest finisher award winners in 2008 thus far include: Jason Johnson, Jimmy Brooks, Travis Elliott, Ray Allen Kulhanek, Channin Tankersley, Gary Watson, Brandon Berryman, Chris Sweeney, Greg Rilat, Tommy Bryant, Michael Dupuy and Bean Elliott.

Weld Motorsports Hard Charger Award weekly winners include: Tommy Bryant and Terry Monroe each with two wins. Single time winners include Jason Johnson, Brandon Berryman, Travis Elliott, Michael McNeil, Chris Sweeney, Gary Watson, John Ricketts, and Skip Wilson.

Travis Elliott leads the chase for Shop Motorsports Rookie of the Years honors. Elliott has amassed 1,489 points in comparison to his closest rival, Travis Knighton of Danbury, TX, who has 1,238. Michael McNeil, Bean Elliott and Aaron Reutzel round out the top five. $500 in cash awaits the champion.
