With names like Earnhardt, Mears, Newman, Kimmel, Wallace and Steele among the ARCA RE/MAX Series winners at Pocono Raceway, victory lane at the storied triangle has become hallowed ground.

With June approaching, the ARCA RE/MAX Series, in its 56th consecutive season, will add yet another winner to its impressive Pocono victory roster when the Pocono 200 rolls out Saturday afternoon, June 7th, the 46th ARCA RE/MAX Series race held on the 2.5-mile Pocono triangle since July of 1983.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series has traditionally shared both of its annual Pocono race dates with NASCAR's SPRINT Cup Series. As such, several NASCAR teams have utilized the ARCA RE/MAX Series over the years to give their drivers experience on the often difficult Pocono track, which drives more like a road course with its three very dissimilar turns and unique triangular shape.

In 2007, Petty Enterprise went to victory lane in June with Chad McCumbee in the driver's seat before Michael McDowell, in an Eddie Sharp Racing/Michael Waltrip entry, steered his way into the coveted Pocono winner's circle in August.

In 2006, series regulars Chase Miller and Frank Kimmel triumphed over a host of development teams to claim victories. But while Kimmel has scored three wins at Pocono over eight seasons, the development teams have snatched up a majority of the Pocono press in recent years.

Penske powerhouses' Scott Riggs and Travis Kvapil earned Pocono victories in '04 and '05 respectively. Penske also went to Pocono's victory lane with Ryan Newman in the driver's seat back in 2000.

Ganassi Racing's Casey Mears swept both RE/MAX Series events at Pocono in 2003, a year after Casey Atwood steered an Evernham Motorsports entry into victory lane in 2002. In addition, Kerry Earnhardt, in a Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Chevrolet, raced his way into Pocono's winner's circle back in 2000. NASCAR veterans' Jeff Purvis and Mike Wallace are also former RE/MAX Series winners at Pocono.

However, it will be up to series regulars, such as defending and nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Kimmel, to out-smart and outwit the competition. And, despite a stronghold on the Pocono triangle from several driver development teams in recent years, traditionally, the ARCA veterans have provided some tough competition. Kimmel has three career victories at Pocono while three-time series champion Tim Steele has a record nine Pocono triumphs. Other multiple Pocono winners include Bob Schacht (6), Bob Keselowski (5) and Jimmy Horton (2).

A full weekend of on-track activity is planned for the June event, with ARCA RE/MAX Series haulers scheduled to converge at the speedway on Thursday, June 5th from 4-6:00 pm. A practice session is scheduled for Friday, June 6th beginning at 10:15 am, with SIM Factory Pole Award Qualifying slated for 1:45 pm. The Pocono 200 kicks off Saturday afternoon, June 7th at 1:00 pm and will be televised same-day on SPEED at 10 pm eastern.
